Welcome to Vietnam, a country where ancient tradition and modern energy live side by side. This eight-day journey takes you from the historic heart of Hanoi to the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, blending culture, cuisine, craft, and quiet riverside moments along the way. Designed with intention for Black queer travelers, this experience moves at a thoughtful pace, balancing immersive guided exploration with space to wander, eat, rest, and connect. You will sip street coffee in centuries-old neighborhoods, taste your way through legendary food scenes, learn traditional crafts from local artisans, and walk through towns that have been quietly shaping global history for generations. Arrive curious. Leave fuller, lighter, and inspired by everything Vietnam has to offer.

This experience is designed for a small group of up to 12 travelers, allowing for meaningful connection, flexibility, and shared moments throughout the trip.

Pair It with South Korea

Vietnam is also available as a back-to-back trip with our South Korea 2027 trip. There is one day in between the two trips, giving you the flexibility to either travel straight through or take a moment to breathe between destinations. If you choose to combine both trips, we will help arrange your flight between South Korea and Vietnam, though airfare is at cost and not included in either trip price. Two countries, two full experiences, one unforgettable spring. If the timing is calling you, take the leap!

Photos are examples; actual room may vary slightly based on availability and accommodation alignment.

The Accommodations

Your home throughout this journey features thoughtfully selected stays that capture the spirit of each city you visit. In Hanoi, you will settle into an elegant boutique hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter, where Asian-inspired interiors, a rooftop bar, and easy access to historic landmarks set the tone for your first few days. You will be steps from Hoan Kiem Lake, neighborhood cafés, and some of the city's most beloved street food.

Later in the trip, you will transition to a luxurious yet intimate stay in Hoi An, designed to reflect the warmth and welcoming spirit of the locals. Surrounded by gentle riverside charm, you will have access to a peaceful spa, beautifully designed rooms, and the kind of soft hospitality that helps you unwind after days of guided exploration. Each property offers daily breakfast, comfortable rooms, and the perfect home base to recharge between adventures.

Day One (Friday, March 26th)

ARRIVE IN HANOI

Your journey begins in Hanoi, Vietnam's vibrant capital, where ancient tradition and modern energy collide on every corner. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your private driver and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Take the afternoon to ease into the rhythm of the city, whether you wander the tree-shaded boulevards, sip Vietnamese coffee at a sidewalk café, or take a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake.

In the evening, we gather for our welcome dinner, where you will be introduced to fresh Vietnamese spring rolls, a fragrant bowl of Phở, and the spirit of local hospitality. This first meal sets the tone for everything to come.

Dinner included.

Day Two (Saturday, March 27th)

A TASTE OF THE OLD QUARTER

The first half of your day is open. Sleep in, relax in the hotel, or explore Hanoi at your own pace. Visit a museum that calls to you, wander through the Old Quarter's labyrinth of streets, or simply find your favorite café and let the city unfold.

In the late afternoon, your private guide will pick you up for a four-hour street food tour through Hanoi's most iconic eats. From grilled fish with turmeric (Cha Ca), to fermented pork specialties, to a glass of local beer in the Old Quarter, this is the kind of food experience that stays with you long after you return home. The night ends with Vietnamese coffee on Hanoi's famous coffee street.

Dinner included.

Day Three (Sunday, March 28th)

HISTORY, CULTURE + EVERYDAY LIFE

Today is a full guided day through Hanoi's most significant cultural and historical landmarks. Start the morning at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay respects to the founder of modern Vietnam, then visit the nearby Ho Chi Minh House on Stilts and One Pillar Pagoda. Continue to the Temple of Literature and the historic Hoa Lo Prison for an unflinching look at Vietnam's past.

After lunch at a local restaurant, head to the Museum of Ethnology for a powerful introduction to Vietnam's diverse ethnic groups, then close the afternoon with a traditional rickshaw ride through the Old Quarter, watching daily life unfold from the comfort of your seat.

Lunch is included.

Day Four (Monday, March 29th)

TAILORED + IN TRANSIT

This morning, your guide will escort you to one of Hoi An's most renowned tailor shops for a half-day custom clothing experience. Whether you want a classic suit, a stunning dress, or something completely your own, a master tailor will take your measurements and walk you through the design process. Many garments can be ready within 24 hours, the craftsmanship is centuries old, and the result is something truly yours.

After your fitting, you will fly from Hanoi to Da Nang (about 1.5 hours), then take a private one-hour drive to Hoi An, where you will check into your new home for the next four nights and ease into the lantern-lit charm of this UNESCO town.

Day Five (Tuesday, March 30th)

THE LANTERN TOWN AWAITS

Spend a full day immersed in Hoi An's beauty. A guided walking tour will introduce you to the town's signature highlights, the Japanese Covered Bridge, the wooden Chinese temples, French colonial architecture, and former merchant houses tucked into every corner.

In the afternoon, take part in a hands-on lantern-making experience, guided by a local lantern master. You will craft your very own bamboo-framed lantern from scratch and take it home as a piece of Hoi An you can carry with you forever.

Day Seven (Thursday, April 1st)

FREE DAY: BEACHES, SNORKELING + REST

Today is yours. Spend the day on one of Hoi An's stunning nearby beaches. An Bang offers white sand and a relaxed party vibe, Ha My is quieter and perfect for sunbathing, and the Cham Islands are ideal if you want to snorkel or dive in crystal clear waters. Or, stay back and enjoy the spa, the pool, or one more wander through Hoi An's lantern-lit streets. Whatever fills your cup, today is meant for you.

Day Six (Wednesday, March 31st)

COMMUNITY, KIDS + COOKING

Start your morning with a visit to a local Vietnamese school, where you will get a glimpse into the daily lives of students and engage in interactive games and activities. It is a meaningful, heart-opening experience that bridges cultures and creates lasting memories.

At midday, head to Coconut Village for a two-hour cooking class. Under the guidance of a local chef, you will prepare a few traditional Vietnamese dishes and sit down to enjoy your creations as lunch. This day brings together connection, creativity, and delicious flavor in one beautiful experience.

Lunch is included.

Day Seven (Friday, April 2nd)

TIME FOR FAREWELLS

Begin your final day with breakfast and a slow morning. Take a quiet walk by the river, savor one last bite, or simply soak in the stillness before your transfer to Da Nang International Airport. Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country with its own pace and customs; their standards are not the same as the USA.

IT IS FOR YOU IF:

  • You are open-minded

  • You enjoy eating, walking, and off-the-beaten-path ideas

  • You love to have a great time and are open to meeting others and accept the different personalities you will encounter

THIS TRIP IS NOT FOR YOU IF:

  • You have a tendency to bring first world expectations with you everywhere

  • You have a tendency to be negative or create a challenging atmosphere for those around you

  • You're not into trying new things or stepping outside of your comfort zone

  • You don’t like Vietnamese cuisine; that is what we’ll be eating every day

  • You have very specific and particular travel preferences and tend to criticize everything around you

  • You have difficulty walking up stairs or being on your feet for extended periods, then this trip isn’t suited to you

  • You are looking for a slow, low-energy trip; Seoul moves at its own pace and rewards travelers who keep up

  • You are looking for luxury exclusively; Vietnam delivers richness in different ways, however, if you keep an open mind, you will have a great time!

Prior to Your Departure

Check if you need to update your passport. Your expiration date needs to be six months from the date of the trip.

Trip Terms & Conditions

We believe in transparency and informed travel. The document below outlines the Trip Terms & Conditions you will agree to once you book, so we invite you to review it ahead of time.

Money/Currency

The national currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Most hotels, restaurants, and larger establishments accept credit and debit cards, though smaller shops, local markets, taxis, and family-owned businesses often prefer cash. Card transactions may include international processing fees and will follow the current exchange rate, which can vary. We recommend carrying small amounts of cash for street vendors, tips, and local purchases, and to check with your bank before traveling to avoid unexpected charges.

Travel Insurance

Missing a vacation is bad enough. Losing the money you paid for your vacation is even worse. Lesbifriends Travel requires you to have travel insurance for any trip you take with us. Your premium is related to your trip cost, so you don’t have to worry about being over-insured. We want to make your travel experience seamless, so sign up and we will get a travel insurance policy for you or we can provide you with a no obligation quote. If you opt not to go with our preferred travel insurance provider, you are required to get your own and proof of insurance may be requested before the trip.

Payments and Payment Plans

All payments to Lesbifriends Travel are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is because Lesbifriends Travel has contractual agreements with hotels, airlines, and other vendors that will not allow us to obtain any refunds. This way we can keep our package prices low and allow you to make monthly payments on your vacation.

When you sign up for a trip, you are automatically signed up for monthly payments and your confirmation email will clearly note your due dates and amount. We suggest you put this payment plan on your personal calendar.

A $75 late fee will be applied to all payments made after the 3-day grace period. Your trip is subject to cancellation after two missed payments.

  • If you are traveling alone and do not want to spend the extra money for a single occupancy room, we are happy to match you with a like-minded traveler to be your roommate on this trip. We understand that the extra money spent in getting your own room takes away from the money available for you to splurge while on vacation.

For that reason, we extend each traveler the option of having us pair you with a suitable roommate for no additional cost. Roommates are paired based on room selection and a potential roommate questionnaire if there are several solo travelers. Before the trip, you will be introduced to your roommate, with plenty of time for you to get to know each other before we reach our destination.
