Tanzania + Kenya

August 20th - September 3rd, 2026

Explore East Africa across two unforgettable weeks, beginning with seven nights in Tanzania and ending with eight nights in Kenya. Whether you choose one country or both, expect deep cultural connection, wildlife thrills, and coastal serenity, all curated for Black queer travelers seeking connection, ease, and joy.

This journey was designed with intention from the moment you arrive in Arusha to your final sunset on Diani’s white sand shores. You’ll witness the raw beauty of African wildlife on safari, engage with vibrant local communities, and unwind in spaces made for rest and reflection. With culturally immersive experiences and a crew that feels like chosen family, this trip is about more than just travel, it’s about belonging, freedom, and discovery.

The Accommodations

Settle into thoughtfully chosen lodgings that blend comfort, style, and local character, from the foothills of Mount Meru to the shores of the Indian Ocean. Begin your stay in Arusha at a tranquil colonial-era lodge tucked in lush gardens, where spacious rooms, cozy verandas, and tropical views offer the perfect place to unwind after your journey.

Then, enjoy full-service stays across East Africa’s most breathtaking landscapes, from baobab-dotted safari lodges in Tarangire and Serengeti to a private coastal villa in Diani Beach. Whether you're sipping coffee under the acacia trees or stargazing poolside, each stay balances modern comfort with serene, soul-soothing vibes.

Our signature Welcome Dinner under a fading African sunset sets the tone for a journey filled with calm, luxury, and soulful connection.

Day Two

FALLS, BREWS, & HOT SPRINGS

Wake up to mountain views, then hike to the majestic Materuni Falls, where you’ll discover a coffee tour that blends education, flavor, and heart. Cap the day with a rejuvenating dip in Kikuletwa Hot Springs and unwind in top-tier comfort back at your lodge.

Day Three

GIVING BACK, GROWING TOGETHER

Spend a heartfelt day volunteering at a local girls’ school. Help prepare meals, chat about dreams, and deliver supplies (funded by your contribution). This moment of connection is equal parts grounding and moving, offering a meaningful pause in our safari journey.

Day Four

EAT THE WILD

Journey into Tarangire National Park and watch wildlife roam beneath ancient baobabs, guided by expert trackers. Return to a comfortable bush lodge for dinner and stories, feeling both thrilled and tender in this unforgettable landscape.

CULTURAL VIBES + QUEER NIGHTS

You'll immerse in Nairobi while wandering markets, museums, and history tours before stepping into the city's queer nightlife scene. This day pairs cultural depth with freedom, so dress for both reflection and revelry.

Day Twelve

HELLO, DIANI DAZE

Transfer to a coastal paradise in Diani where turquoise waves meet quiet villa life. Your evening is yours to relax on the sand or sip something cool by the water, because after the bush, we’re diving into rest.

Day Fourteen

CHOOSE YOUR BLISS

Take this day as you need. Massage, henna, shopping, yoga, or lounging, followed by a Pan-African cooking class in the evening. When night falls, you’ll know these are the best kind of days.

  • You have a tendency to be negative or dramatic or are just plain depressing to be around

  • You're not into trying new things or stepping outside of your comfort zone

  • You don’t like East African food; that is what we’ll be eating every day

Money/Currency

The national currency of Greece is the Euro (EUR). Most establishments in Greece accept credit/debit cards and do include bank fees and are subject to the current conversion rate which does not vary much. Please check with your bank ahead of time so there are no surprises.  It is recommended to bring some Euro along with you because withdrawing cash has a high fee associated with it.

Travel Insurance

Missing a vacation is bad enough. Losing the money, you paid for your vacation is even worse. Trip insurance is therefore highly recommended. Your premium is related to your trip cost, so you don’t have to worry about being over-insured. We want to make your travel experience seamless, so sign up and we will get a travel insurance policy for you, or we can provide you with a no obligation quote. If you opt not to go with our preferred travel insurance provider, you are required to get your own and proof of insurance may be requested before the trip.

Payments and Payment Plans

All payments to Lesbifriends Travel are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is because Lesbifriends Travel has contractual agreements with hotels, airlines, and other vendors that will not allow us to obtain any refunds. This way we can keep our package prices low and allow you to make monthly payments on your vacation.

When you sign up for a trip, you are automatically signed up for monthly payments and your confirmation email will clearly note your due dates and amount. We suggest you put this payment plan on your personal calendar.

A $75 late fee will be applied to all payments made after the 3-day grace period. Your trip is subject to cancellation after two missed payments.

  • If you are traveling alone and do not want to spend the extra money for a single occupancy room, we are happy to match you with a like-minded traveler to be your roommate on this trip. We understand that the extra money spent in getting your own room takes away from the money available for you to splurge while on vacation.

For that reason, we extend each traveler the option of having us pair you with a suitable roommate for no additional cost. Roommates are paired based on room selection and a potential roommate questionnaire if there are several solo travelers. Before the trip, you will be introduced to your roommate, with plenty of time for you to get to know each other before we reach our destination.

  • Do you know someone who is interested in joining our trip but has not been to a Lesbifriend event or trip? Here is your chance to save a little money while bringing them on a trip of a lifetime!

For every traveler that you refer to our trip, you will receive up to a $150 ($25 cash, $50 current trip credit, or $75 future domestic trip credit, or $150 future international trip credit) referral bonus once that person pays in full. There is no limit to the number of people you can refer; the only condition is that anyone you refer has not already signed up with Lesbifriends.

Be sure to tell your friend to enter your name on the registration form under “Who Referred You.”
