Guatemala

November 16th - 22nd, 2026

Journey with us to Guatemala, a country where volcanoes kiss the clouds, Mayan roots run deep, and every corner hums with color, craft, and connection. This 7-day, 6-night adventure takes you from the lively capital to the tranquil shores of Lake Atitlán and the cobblestone charm of Antigua. Along the way, you’ll experience world-class cuisine, meaningful community exchanges, breathtaking landscapes, and the heart of Guatemalan hospitality. Expect a balance of exploration and ease, time with locals and time for yourself, and the kind of beauty that stays with you long after you return home.

Photos are examples; actual room may vary slightly based on availability and accommodation alignment.

The Accommodations

Each stay along our journey captures a different side of Guatemala’s soul, from a serene urban boutique stay surrounded by lush gardens, to a lakeside retreat overlooking shimmering blue waters, to a private villa tucked in Antigua’s colonial hills. You’ll wake to birdsong, sip coffee grown on nearby slopes, and unwind in spaces that blend local artistry with modern comfort. All accommodations include breakfast, comfortable shared or private rooms, and the warmth of local hosts who make you feel instantly at home.

NOTE: ITINERARY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Day One

WELCOME TO THE LAND OF ETERNAL SPRING

Arrive in Guatemala City and be greeted by our local team before diving into a guided tour of the capital’s history, architecture, and rhythm.

We’ll gather for a special welcome dinner that fuses ancient Mayan flavors with modern Guatemalan creativity; a culinary gastronomical 12-course journey that sets the tone for the week ahead.

Day Two

SACRED SITES + SCENIC ROADS

Travel west through the highlands, stopping at the ancient Mayan ruins of Iximché. Walk among stone temples and altars that hold centuries of history, then continue toward Lake Atitlán, often called the most beautiful lake in the world.

Settle into your lakeside retreat and soak up the views of volcanoes reflected in the water.

Day Three

VILLAGES OF THE LAKE

Spend the day by private boat visiting the colorful villages that dot Lake Atitlán. Meet the women of local weaving cooperatives, explore vibrant artisan markets, and experience the everyday magic of San Juan La Laguna and San Pedro. Expect laughter, storytelling, and a deeper appreciation for the living Mayan culture that thrives here.

Day Four

MARKET MAGIC + MOUNTAIN ROADS

Make your way to the legendary Chichicastenango Market, where textiles, pottery, and hand-carved masks fill the streets with color. Visit Santo Tomás Church to witness the beautiful blend of Mayan and Christian traditions before heading onward to the colonial gem of Antigua.

Day Five

ROOTS, RHYTHM + REFLECTION

Today is about connection. Visit nearby villages for hands-on experiences with local artisans, from clay-making to leatherwork and wood carving. We will also share a homemade lunch with a local family.

The day also includes time volunteering with CANI, a local youth organization and ends with a holistic sound healing session back at our villa.

Day Six

FLOWERS IN FULL BLOOM

Antigua bursts with color during the annual Flower Festival, when the cobblestone streets are transformed by vibrant floral displays, live music, and local art. This is a free day to explore at your own pace, wander through the festivities, discover hidden courtyards, or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere.

For those who want a little more structure, we’ve vetted two optional add-ons (additional cost) that will be available for booking closer to the trip (typically 2–4 months prior): a walking street food tour through Antigua’s most beloved local spots, or a scenic drive to El Hato’s mountaintop viewpoints for panoramic views of the valley.

Day Seven

UNTIL NEXT TIME

After breakfast, we’ll say our farewells and begin our journey back to the airport. As we part ways, carry with you the colors, flavors, and Lesbifriendships of Guatemala; and the promise of more adventures to come.

Money/Currency

The national currency of Guatemala is the Guatemalan Quetzal (GTQ). Most establishments in major cities and popular tourist areas accept credit and debit cards, but smaller shops, local markets, and rural areas often operate on a cash-only basis. Card transactions may include international processing fees and are subject to the current exchange rate, which can fluctuate. It’s best to check with your bank before traveling to avoid unexpected charges. We recommend carrying some quetzales for small purchases, tips, and artisan markets, as ATMs may charge withdrawal fees and not all accept foreign cards.

Travel Insurance

Missing a vacation is bad enough. Losing the money you paid for your vacation is even worse. Lesbifriends Travel requires you to have travel insurance for any trip you take with us. Your premium is related to your trip cost, so you don’t have to worry about being over-insured. We want to make your travel experience seamless, so sign up and we will get a travel insurance policy for you or we can provide you with a no obligation quote. If you opt not to go with our preferred travel insurance provider, you are required to get your own and proof of insurance may be requested before the trip.

Payments and Payment Plans

Get 10% off your entire trip if you pay in full at the time of the initial booking. Use discount code FULL during check out to save on your trip package. Please note that discount codes don’t apply to add-on options, and you can only use one code per booking.

All payments to Lesbifriends Travel are non-refundable and non-transferable. This is because Lesbifriends Travel has contractual agreements with hotels, airlines, and other vendors that will not allow us to obtain any refunds. This way we can keep our package prices low and allow you to make monthly payments on your vacation.

When you sign up for a trip, you are automatically signed up for monthly payments and your confirmation email will clearly note your due dates and amount. We suggest you put this payment plan on your personal calendar.

A $75 late fee will be applied to all payments made after the 3-day grace period. Your trip is subject to cancellation after two missed payments.

  • If you are traveling alone and do not want to spend the extra money for a single occupancy room, we are happy to match you with a like-minded traveler to be your roommate on this trip. We understand that the extra money spent in getting your own room takes away from the money available for you to splurge while on vacation.

For that reason, we extend each traveler the option of having us pair you with a suitable roommate for no additional cost. Roommates are paired based on room selection and a potential roommate questionnaire if there are several solo travelers. Before the trip, you will be introduced to your roommate, with plenty of time for you to get to know each other before we reach our destination.

  • Do you know someone who is interested in joining our trip but has not been to a Lesbifriend event or trip? Here is your chance to save a little money while bringing them on a trip of a lifetime!

For every traveler that you refer to our trip, you will receive up to a $150 ($25 cash, $50 current trip credit, or $75 future domestic trip credit, or $150 future international trip credit) referral bonus once that person pays in full. There is no limit to the number of people you can refer; the only condition is that anyone you refer has not already signed up with Lesbifriends.

Be sure to tell your friend to enter your name on the registration form under “Who Referred You.”
