Lesbifriend Luminary: Da'Tira Morrison
lu·mi·nar·y
/ˈlo͞oməˌnerē/ - n - a person who inspires or influences others, especially one prominent in a particular sphere.
Each month we take a moment to show appreciation for an exemplary member of our community. Affectionately named “Lesbifriend Luminary”, we honor you.
Meet Da'Tira Morrison (she/her), owner of The Dessert Table by Cupcakin' with Dati, a Black-owned, woman-owned, queer-owned interactive dessert cart bringing joy to events across the DMV.
Da'Tira is also a science educator, and it shows in the way she moves through her work.
She creates hands-on experiences, invites people to make something their own, and brings communities together over sweet treats and shared moments. The Dessert Table is a create-your-own dessert experience where guests choose their treats, toppings, and finishing touches, turning dessert into a full part of the event vibe.
Her offerings include cupcakes, mini cakes, mini donuts, mini pancakes, mini waffles, ice cream sundaes, water ice, and açaí. She and her team handle everything, from supplies and setup to breakdown and a dedicated dessert table attendant, so you can actually enjoy your own event.
Their motto: Create it! Eat it! Love it!
If Da'Tira looks familiar, that is because she brought her magic to Lesbifriends in the Park 2.0, serving up create-your-own ice cream sundaes to our community. She is now expanding her offerings (a popcorn bar is officially in the works) and bringing the cart to more community events across the DMV.
Planning a birthday, a brunch, a wedding, or your next kickback?? The Dessert Table is the sweet moment your event deserves. Book her for your next celebration, follow along on social, and keep an eye out, Da'Tira is just getting started.
